I'm pretty conservative; I'd use a smokey grey and let the overall pattern show through instead of focussing on the color of the quilting itself. (wish there was spell check on these commenty things).
I like the idea of smokey grey. I think it would look great with a dark purple thread to match the border and back too though. Can't wait to see what you do with it, it's a beautiful top!
I would use a light pastel verigated on the top and maybe a darker purple verigated on the back.

Unlike the others I would use a green-yellow varigated on the front and a 'matching to the fabric' thread on the back. It is such a lovely quilt.

What I would probably do is let it sit for a year or two, finally find some thread, let it sit for another year, then quilt it.
I do want you to know that I love it, though. It's fabulous.
That's darling. I would go with the purple-y varigated.
I hate variegated thread, so I would probably use yellow isacord thread on both the top and bottom.
I like contrasting thread with fabric because you can see the stitches better, so I would make the backing the same purple color and let the yellow thread show off.
It's a really pretty quilt top and will be so cheerful no matter what you do with it!

Your quilt is gorgeous, the colours you've used just make me smile :o)! I like the idea of a variegated thread but I think I'd go for one with more than just purple in it. If you could find one that has various pastels, particularly yellow, in it that would be lovely ;o).

medium purple bottom line on the back and and a bottom line in lite blue or lite green on the front. or a veri_pastel like mother of pearl LAVA.
these are all by superior and I swear those folks should pay me!
Putting dark thread on a light background is very high contrast and catches the eye. (like print on a page) minimize contrast by using a lighter thread .. me likey what RobynK said...
What a pretty quilt. There are a lot of colors and prints on the top. I would probably use the "baby ka-ka" green that will show up, blend nicely, but not overpower the prints.

I would use a very light purple in a polyester so that it would blend more.
I would use a strong shade of red - or a red/purpley shade....

I just started using white thread for all but the darkest backgrounds and I LOVE it-after the quilt is washed you can see the quilting but not the stitches (does that make sense?)
ok, I will add since no one has chosen this: PINK! it picks up the colour from the yellow floral and goes with everything. It will also show up, and lately I like my quilting to show.
