No jokes. Just business.

Well, it appears my handy dandy email subscription box doesn't work, so I've chucked it. Sorry, folks. I'll come back to the issue sometime and see if I can work it out, but this isn't the week for that.

Today is Harper's 7th birthday, so I've spent much of the week preparing for that. And we are driving to Tennessee tomorrow, so today I'll be trying to pack and see just how many vital things I can forget this time. It could be a record, since I will also be taking care of a sick 3-year-old who has yet again managed to fall ill right before a 12-hour car ride. I slept with her last night, and while she managed to eke out a night's sleep, I was kept awake by her sneezes, coughs, moans, and groans. By tomorrow morning, I should be ready to drive us all off the side of a bridge. I'll wave to you as we go down.

We'll return late on Tuesday, and I hope that shortly thereafter I'll have a Cherry Pie update, and maybe some new quilt pictures, if my sister hasn't been slacking off for the last few months. At the least, I'll try to get a picture of her fabric stash, so you can all wonder how I managed to sleep next to it without secretly stuffing the extra spaces in my suitcase.

Have a great holiday weekend, everyone. Oh, and thanks for all your stories of massive hemmoraging!

Sorry about the sleep - try not to go off any bridges! Where will you be in Tennessee? East, Middle, or West? (I'm in Middle TN)

Safe travels! And good luck with that other thing. (No, I don't mean your sick 3-year old!) ;-)

Have a good vacation, relax, and think of all the things you can do if you don't have to drag Aunt Flo around!

I hope Harper has a wonderful birthday and everyone else recovers and enjoys the long weekend. Go slow on those bridges! Let me know if you are interested in going to the guild meeting (its not until the 13th) and finally, yes, your quilt is totally fucking awesome!

I feel your pain...lack of sleep due to sick kids ... I've two. Best wishes for sleep soon. Sometimes a dose of alcohol in your bedtime tea does wonders!! Drive down the middle of the bridge, taking both lanes to avoid the temptation of driving off the edge. If there are other cars, one look at your face and the occupants of your car should aid their ability to get out of your way! Try and enjoy your trip and if you leave your sister an IOU of a promised completed project, small though it may be, why not "borrow" something you can't live without from her stash. Her fault for letting you that close to it! Relax and enjoy your time!!

I have been reading your entire blog for the past 2 days! How addicting...and also how wonderful to know that I'm not the only one who thinks and speaks in "justfuckits" as a normal way of life. :-). My hubby is of the opinion that swearing is entirely unnecessary...ever. I wholeheartedly disagree! How else does one express frustration and anger succinctly? Oh shucky darns and got-down-sat-on-a-bench (ya gotta say this one fast for any hope of redeeming it) just don't cut the mustard in certain situations - that seem to come up more often than one might think.

I love your sense of humor!!!.....people around me are giving me a wide berth after hearing me snort and wheeze and giggle demonically at your posts (I'm reading this on an iPad, so dragging it with me everywhere). I'm hoping I don't have to call hubby to come bail me out of the looney bin if someone should truly become alarmed at my behavior while reading this. Keep up the good work!

The quilting will come with time. The quilts I made when I first started about 12 years ago are now dog beds, so even the *&^%$#! inducing projects can have a useful life. :o)

Quilt on!
